Amaterasu – A Guest Post by Lisa McLoughlin
This guest post by Lisa McLoughlin is part of a series celebrating the My Word Goddess Readings by honouring the gifts of the goddesses that stepped forward in 2014….
Entering 2014, with Amaterasu as my Goddess of the year, felt exciting and full of possibilities… I pondered if this was finally the year for me to Shine and step into the life I had been dreaming of.
I kept her in mind throughout the first few months of the year and sensed myself waiting and waiting for the moment I might Shine. At one point, I caught myself thinking that perhaps this was not the Goddess or word for me and that I might let her and myself down somehow and be disappointed.
How could I possibly Shine when I felt so scattered, overwhelmed and wracked with fear?
What unravelled for me, during the second half of my year, was not anticipated. The lessons I absorbed and integrated are profound. I now understand that Amaterasu and her story has been with me all the way and a perfect accompaniment for 2014.
You see, I hit a low-point in my business midway through the year: a psychological low rather than workload low. I made a few mistakes. In reaction to this, I decided to hide myself away from the online world and effectively made myself invisible: tumbling into a cave-like womb.
During that time, I re-discovered journaling, my Sacred Alone, meditation and simply being in my business rather than doing in my business. But, it was a difficult time: uncomfortable.
Not once did I want to give up, but I was feeling ashamed, discouraged and disconnected.
What transpired, with the addition of attending the Practical Magic Business Circle* (where Amaterasu was one of the Goddesss!), was facing up to my Shadow sides and discovering the ways in which I disowned the dark and more importantly (as I had no previous understanding) gave away my LIGHT. I had been projecting my LIGHT in different ways. One way was that I believed I could not possibly survive in business without external support. I did not trust myself. I did not know what I truly desired for my business.
Thank goodness I was wrong. I have all the answers within me. Diving deep into the shadow realms has helped me to shift my perspectives, let go and re-establish strong boundaries. I have come to really know myself and my truth and feel it in my bones. I have stepped out into the LIGHT and I feel I am shining for the first time. I really see my worth and somehow know what to do. I trust myself and my inner wisdom. I have come home to myself and I like it very much.
Like the Ugly Duckling, I have found my tribe, I love what I do and I am so excited for my future. I thank Amaterasu and her beautiful story.
I have an intention to no longer give away my LIGHT and have stepped into my very own recipe of power.
Thank you AMY and PMBC…
