Circling Sovereignty
You know, something really quite magical happens when you unplug from the stories spun by others about what it means to be successful. You get to step into the story which is yours – all yours. Your unique voice that tells the tales and narrates the unfolding story – chapter by chapter – rises up from the creative wellspring rooted deep in your authentic way of being in the world. And you get to make decisions regarding the evolution of your own spirit – the map of your own journey.
This for me is creative sovereignty. And this is what I feel is one of the most important gifts we give ourselves as solopreneurs, as artists, as healers, as coaches, as creative beings.
Yes – it’s about serving others.
Yes – it’s about giving our gifts.
Yes – it’s about showing up in our lives in accordance to our values, our ethics, our desires.
But, I think most of us do it for an experience of creative sovereignty. At the very least, it’s the quality of creative sovereignty that fuels us to lean in and devote ourselves to the serving, the giving, the showing up.
And yet, we get so tangled up in the all the stories around the way business “should” be done. We convince ourselves that there is a right and a wrong way to structure, market, create, deliver, price, grow. And then when we find we don’t fit the mould of what’s “right”, we beat ourselves up for not being good enough. We deny ourselves our creative sovereignty.
If I just worked hard enough, I would be successful. If I just worked smarter, I would be successful. If I just gave more of myself, I would be successful. If I just invested more, I would be successful.
How completely exhausting.
And how completely false. Because we soon find that we can’t work any harder or any smarter than we are already. And that there is no more left to invest, no more to give. The proverbial well is dry dry dry. And we still haven’t hit any of those imaginary targets that we were told would define us as successful.
It’s for this reason that I offer the Practical Magic Business Circle. I see it as a place where we can tune out all the noise and reconnect deeply to our own truths. A place where we can make some space to ask the question of what does success mean to me? What does it look like? What does it taste like? What does it feel like?
This has never been a circle that promotes an agenda of world domination. Nor is it a place to get a 3 step strategy to 6 figures. We’re not gathering to learn how to play the game. And we don’t want to know how to dance to a tune born out of the seismic productivity shifts of the industrial revolution. In all honesty, the thought of all that just turns me off. It doesn’t feel in alignment with my desire, and it doesn’t feel delicious.
And if it’s not delicious, I have precious little desire to show up for it.
Can you imagine what it feels like to let go of those old stories? Can you feel a new story – your story – whispering through the quieting hubbub? If you can, then you’ll probably understand all too well why many of the women who experience the Practical Magic Business Circle return for more.
One of our returning circle sisters, Lisa McLoughlin, was one of those who entered back into this circle this time round, and this is what she had to say…
I have just been entered into the PMBC with Amy Palko and its like climbing under a big soft duvet… A safe place to be for a while with no formulaic doing … Deep sigh … Deep breathe and relax ….
Doesn’t that sound delicious? A place where you can come back to you. A place that doesn’t invest in false urgency or myths of scarcity or brokenness. A place where business isn’t viewed as a battle or as a means to an end. But a place where you can unfurl and unfold at your own pace. A place where you feel seen and heard and held. A place where you can practice receptivity from a soft yet aware and awake place, so that you might witness the signs, the symbols, the stories that speak to the next evolution of your business.
This, my lovely, is what I want for you.
Whether you find it in the Practical Magic Business Circle, or you find it elsewhere, this is what I want for you. And if you don’t have a business of your own, I want the experience of creative sovereignty to fill you up and fuel you as you feel yourself received and known in the world in all that you do.
I want this for you. I want this for me. I want this for all of us.
Now, if you are thinking that you would love to join this next circle, you have until this Sunday to claim your space. When you enter in, you’ll find an altar with your name on it with a goddess I have specially selected just for you to guide you through your PMBC experience. And then, on Monday, we begin the process of crafting a devotional business practice, and I’ll add the first gift to your PMBC party bag – a business goddess visualisation for you and your goddess to get better acquainted.
And this is just the beginning… there’s so much more to come after that.
