Creating a home for creativity…
My mum shared with me her ribbon box the other day there. The most beautiful and unusual collection of ribbons that I’ve ever seen each housed in its own little compartment, liberated from the drawer that had been their home. No longer hidden away, they were now laid out, made visible, showcased…
And it struck me that this blog is performing a similar function for my words. No longer are my thoughts and stories and ideas hidden away. Instead they have been given a home. They have been honoured through their visibility.
The beautiful thing is that my words aren’t just visible to you, my lovely readers. They’re also visible for me. So just as my mum finds herself inspired by the possibilities held by the ribbons in that box, I am inspired by my words in this blog. As I get to the end of this first full month of my 365 project of a blog post a day, I am realising that I can see my writing with far greater clarity than I was before. I can see what topics I return to, the threads that weave throughout my days, the fascinations that whisper, “Dive deep here…. and here… and here…”
So yes, I am seeing how my creativity is finding a home through the conscious crafting of this blog, through the visibility of my words. I did wonder after the first week of posting whether this had been such a good idea, or whether I had, in fact, bitten off more than I could chew. I’m glad I persevered. It’s already paying off…
