Because I forgot what was important….

Sometimes, I find that I get so excited about something that I let the wild horses of my enthusiasm gallop off chasing the potential of that which I am longing to call into being…. And then a wise soul sister will ask me a question which serves as a soft siren song to anchor me back into what is actually really important. This is exactly what happened to me last week….

So, a couple of weeks ago, I launched the next Practical Magic Business Circle – The Fire Circle edition. Since then, in my secret Goddess Guidance FB group, I’ve been introducing each of the fire goddesses that will be guiding us through the coming weeks as we explore the themes of Passion, Inspiration, Devotion, Radiance, Transformation & Desire. And with all this fiery goodness, I’ve been feeling the energy of this enlivening element course through my bloodstream and galvanise my sense of what is possible – for me, for my writing, for my art, for my business.

However, it wasn’t until I had a conversation with a dear friend last week that I realised that I had neglected to speak to that which is truly at the heart of every Practical Magic Business Circle – the giving and receiving of our soul medicine.

I think because soul medicine and business are so intrinsically interconnected for me, that I made the assumption that this was the same for everyone else. My friend very lovingly reminded me that this was not the case, and that, actually, I see business quite differently from other people; so maybe I needed to come back to the heart of the PMBC and share from this place.

So, how do you know what your soul medicine is? It is the gifts that you were born with and are here to give to the world. It’s what you are uniquely blessed with and which no-one other than you can give or experience in quite the same way. It’s what we find ourselves seeking in others, forgetting that it lives within us, and has done all along.

Some gurus, leaders and teachers are very good at making you believe that they have your medicine. And that they’ll give it to you for a price. But that is not the nature of soul medicine – you don’t need to pay for it to be delivered to you through the words and actions of another. You simply need to give it to someone – and in the giving, you receive it more fully.

A good example of this is teaching. If you have ever taught anything – anything at all! – from teaching your kid how to formulate words and then sentences to teaching a tourist how to get from point A to point B in your city, from teaching a friend how to tweet to teaching a student quadratic equations, in the teaching of another you experience an expansion in your own understanding.

We receive in the act of giving.

Business, for me, is then a vessel for us to more fully receive our own soul medicine as we claim our gifts and develop ways in which to share them which feel deliciously sustainable and are in true alignment with our desire.

So, this might look like an offline business – a shop, a therapy clinic, a retreat centre, an art gallery, a consultancy, an agency etc. Or it might look like an online business offering a range of digital products and services – intuitive readings, life coaching sessions, mixed media art workshops, copywriting, virtual assistant support, practical magic business circles(!).

It doesn’t matter what your business looks like, what it is offering, whether it is online, offline or both, whether your intention is for it to provide an income for you and your family or just to cover costs for that which you wish to experience in the world – art materials, plane tickets, books(!), or how well-established it is (from a twinkle in your eye to over a decade of consistent customer service and product creation), the PMBC is here to support you to more fully receive your soul medicine. And that is what I forgot to tell everyone when I launched this most recent circle.
