Pinterest! What Is It Good For? Absolutely Quite A Lot, Actually.

Why should you have a Pinterest account? I mean, surely it’s just a massive waste of time, right? Well, the truth is, yes, it can be a massive waste of time. But, it doesn’t have to be. It can actually be a really useful tool. Like all forms of social media, it’s all in the way you approach it. We can use it to numb out, or we can use it to add value. The choice always lies with us. So, how do I use Pinterest? Here’s how… Virtual Altar Every new moon, I create an altar. I select items from around my home, and I keep my eyes open…

Bella’s Not That Bad, Is She?

I have to tell you that I just consume YA fiction & film like it’s going out of fashion. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read Twilight. I was one of those who pre-ordered Harry Potter and then pounced on the postman as soon as he rang the doorbell. I saw The Hunger Games movie twice… within 24 hrs. I find myself completely fascinated by the narratives that we are communicating to our young people – the messages both subtle and not-so-subtle. Perhaps The Heart of a Poet Lies Here…

Yesterday, I signed up to two classes: Vivienne McMaster’s Montage and Liz Lamoreux’s Poem It Out. Viv’s class is going to teach me how to make soulful videos, while Liz’s will help me explore poetry on a personal level. The two seem like such beautiful compliments to one another. And in the meantime, I wanted to share this poem that I wrote a few years ago… My Poetry Education My poetry education begins with paper and pen and a promise that I’ll allow myself time. Time enough to grow and get…

What If You Chose Not To Believe What You’ve Always Believed?

It’s funny, isn’t it, how we get stuck in our perception of ourselves? We have this concept of self that we adhere to, even when we receive evidence to the contrary, even when it doesn’t serve us. This crystalline, immutable template of you, arresting potential and limiting possibility. For example, here are 5 of my beliefs…. I don’t like whisky. I’m not artistic. I have dark auburn hair. I am not a poet. I’m hopeless at marketing. Are these true? Do they offer an accurate reflection of me as I am now? Or are these just beliefs that seemed valid at one time and that I’m still hanging onto now?…

Did You Know Phoenix Eggs Are Blue?

Yesterday I received a beautiful Tansu session from the truly gifted Annu Tara. Now, Tansu is completely new to me, but like almost all bodywork I receive (holistic massage, reiki, Indian head massage, shiatsu), it shifted me into an altered state. When I’m in this kind of state, this plane of consciousness, I find that images, words, colours, stories, wisdom, understandings come through. I don’t know where they come from. I don’t know whether these are communications from angels, goddesses, my own inner self…. But what I do know is that they always reveal something new to me. They give me back a piece of my self. Towards the end…
