Anuket is an Ancient Egyptian goddess who is thought to be the embodiment of the Nile, the two tributaries of the Nile representing her arms spread wide in welcoming embrace. Amaterasu – Goddess of Choosing To Shine
This gorgeous Japanese Shinto goddess was also known as Shining Heaven. Her parents persuaded her to climb a ladder into the heavens so that she could shine her light on all of earth, but she chose to withdraw after a while in protest at her brother, the storm god, Susanoo’s chaos and noise. She was eventually persuaded out into the open by first being distracted from her melancholy by Uzume, goddess of laughter, and then with the use of a mirror which reflected her divine light back to her.
