Hip Stories
I have hurt my hip. And it’s not for the first time. When I was pregnant with my third and final baby I developed issues with my right hip. 3 pregnancies in under 4 years had resulted in an excess of relaxin – a hormone that loosens up your joints to allow the baby to pass through your pelvis. It was painful at the time, and I had physiotherapy after he had made his appearance, which seemed to sort out the majority of my aches & pains. But the truth is that walking distances, especially when I’m in a hurry, causes it to act up. Cut to Wednesday. That third…

The Springtime Wisdom of the Goddess
This post was originally published as a part of Amy Oscar‘s Spring Wisdom Series, which you can download in its entirety as an ebook here: Spring Wisdom Series. In a time before time existed, there was the great goddess. She was formed from the great swirling darkness and chaos, and gave birth to the heavens, to the planets & stars, to the earth & the seas, the jungles & grasslands, to the animals & the people. She held within her all aspects of femininity. She was as light as she was dark. She was as great as she was terrible. She gave life and took it away. She was compassionate and…

It’s Time to Give Your Gifts
This morning I checked in with the goddesses. I was in that blissful between place, moving between the stages of waking, limbs languid, eyelids heavy, hair gently pillowing my face. Almost without thinking, I send my roots reaching far below me to connect with my core crystal – that soul anchor which gives me grounding and stability. And then I picture an angel pouring white sparkling light down through my crown chakra. It filters all down my body’s energy centres before I push it gently out to form a bubble around my whole being. From this place of grounded, open, protected consciousness I travel along a well worn path to…

Whispering Lullabies to the Goddess
Each of us is here to discover our higher self or our spiritual self. That is the first fulfillment of the Law of Dharma. We must find out for ourself that inside us is a god or goddess in embryo that wants to be born so that we can express our divinity. ~ Deepak Chopra Deep within the dark fertile places of my soul exists the embryo of a goddess. She stirs occasionally, as if disturbed by vivid dream, her limbs responding to images unseen. But for the most part, she remains asleep. Still she grows. My tender and somewhat self-conscious ministrations creating space for her to expand. I am…

In the Red Tent
Yesterday something very special happened. My daughter and I participated in the initiation of the first Red Tent in Scotland. A circle of women came together and shared and laughed and danced and sang. Tears were shed, sage was burned, food was shared. Here are some of my photos from the day… The Red Tent is a space where women can connect with each other through the honouring of our bodies’ cycles. First blood, menstruation, peri-menopause, menopause – a woman’s life is shaped by the spiral. She circles through the weeks, the months, the years, the sacred calling to her through the rhythms of her body. Are you listening? To…
